Penalty controversy as strugglers Cardiff and Huddersfield draw

Huddersfield last won a game on 25 November when they won 2-0 at Wolves

Huddersfield Town ended their nine-game losing run in a goalless draw at Cardiff but there was controversy as the Terriers were denied a penalty when referee Lee Mason changed his mind.

Mason had pointed to the spot when Florent Hadergjonaj went to ground after a Joe Bennett challenge, but, after speaking with an assistant, reversed his decision.

Bottom of the table Huddersfield were the better side, with the hosts not having a shot on target.

Jason Puncheon, making his first Premier League appearance for the visitors since joining on loan from Crystal Palace, had a good chance in the eighth minute but shot just wide from 25 yards.

Steve Mounie’s hooked effort at goal was pushed over the top in a match short of quality and chances.
